(ĐN)- Farmers in Dong Nai province are facing many difficulties due to the appearance of fungal coffee plant diseases like leaf rust, wilt disease and pink disease. The fungi have spread over around 1,000 hectares of coffee plants in the province so far this year, an increase of over 130 hectares when compared to the middle of October 2011, according to the Provincial Plant Protection Department. This phenomenon was due to the high humidity in the coffee plantations due to excessive rain in recent months.

The Provincial Plant Protection Department urged local farmers to take more care on their coffee fields and spray chemicals on affected coffee trees to prevent the spreading of diseases.
