(ĐN)- A bumper yield of mango has been achieved in Suoi Lon Mango Cooperative in Xuan Loc district’s Xuan Hung commune, Dong Nai province this year. The cooperative adopted new farming techniques to increase mango yield to 35-40 tonnes per hectares, an increase of about 5 tonnes as compared to previous years.

Mango prices in Dong Nai surged by VND 3,000 to VND 5,000 per kilo compared with the previous year, reaching VND 8,000-VND 12,000 per kilo. With this price, members of Suoi Lon Mango Cooperative can get a profit of over VND 100 million every hectare of mango after the production cost is deducted, representing a two-fold increase over the previous year.
Mango production in the southwestern region was affected by unfavorable weather conditions and most of farmers in the region have suffered losses due to unseasonal rain. Meanwhile, Dong Nai has a bumper mango crop this year thanks to making mango trees to bear fruit much ahead of the normal bearing season to prevent the impact of unseasonal rain on mango trees.
