(ĐN) - According to the assessment of the Dong Nai Department of Industry and Trade, no shortage of sugar is expected over the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival. Total sugar consumption in Dong Nai is estimated at 1,400 tons over Tet while Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company will be able to supply 3,5000 tons of sugar to the market in order to meet local consumer demand. Sugar products from Bien Hoa Sugar JSC will be sold at 12 retail outlets and tens of thousands of points of sale across the province during the Tet holiday.
Over the last week, the sugar price dropped to VND 22,000 –VND 23,000 per kilo due to a decrease in sugar demand. Food processing plants and production plants for confectionery in the province have stockpiled enough sugar to make Tet products.
In addition, the Bien Hoa Confectionery Joint Stock Company (Bibica) planned to produce about 15 tons of cake and candy to serve local consumers on the occasion of the upcoming Tet holiday.
