(ĐN)- Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot presided over a meeting on Wednesday to review the province’s socio-economic performance in the first nine months of this year and set tasks for the fourth quarter of 2010. Also present at this meeting was Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh.
According to the report, Dong Nai’s GDP in the nine-month period is estimated to reach around VND26.85 trillion, a 13.1% year-on-year increase. Accordingly, the province’s industry-construction sector increased 14.6%, services up 14.5%. The provinces export turnover reached an estimated US$5253.3 million during the first nine months of the year, or 74.6% of this years target. During the reviewed period, Dong Nai attracted VND28.5 trillion in domestic investment, a year-on-year rise of 14% while the province lured US$805.3 million in foreign direct investment (FDI), a climb of 14% year-on-year.
Apart from these above mentioned achievements, Dong Nai faced many difficulties and challenges during the nine-month period as follows: the complicated situation of the latest epidemic of blue-ear disease among pigs in the province, the delay in implemetation of some key projects, the province’s agriculture - forestry - fishery sector seeing a low growth rate….
Addressing at the meeting, Chairman Vo Van Mot urged local relevant agencies to identify and implement strategies to manage difficulties to achieve set goals for 2010. Secretary Tran Dinh Thanh also asked relevant agencies to focus on efforts to speed up the administrative procedure reforms as well as take measures to meet growth target for the province’s agriculture - forestry - fishery sector.
