(ĐN)- This statement was made by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Nam Hai at a meeting to review the results of encouragement work for rural industrial development and the promotion of industrial development held in Dong Nai on Friday, March 26. The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai People’s Committee Tran Van Vinh and leaders of southern cities and provinces. During the 2005-2009 period, industrial encouragement activities have helped to promote industrial development in rural areas of the Southern region. There are now nearly 11,000 industrial units in rural areas throughout Dong Nai with a work force of almost 93,000 people. Workers at these manufacturing units can get average salaries of VND 1.5 million per month. Dong Nai has made great effort to restore and develop traditional handicrafts in rural areas including pottery making, cast-iron moulding, stone carving, wooden products, weaving and brocade textiles… through providing vocational training courses for labourers.
