(ĐN)- Vinh Cuu branch of Agribank has provided loans worth over VND 100 billion for 1,993 farm households under the government’s soft loan program through the end of November with the total amount of subsidised interest reaching almost VND1.7 billion, Director of the bank Nguyen Van Chien said. The subsidised loans accounted for 31.8 per cent of the total outstanding loans at the bank.
The program, stipulated in the Decision No. 497/QD-TTg, will end Dec 31, encouraging farmers to borrow money from banks at 4% interest rate to buy fertilizer, pesticides and construction materials, repayable over 24 months.
By the end of November this year, lending from the bank has reached VND450 billion. Of the amount, nearly VND 300 billion was disbursed in loans to help farm households to develop their production.
