Dong Nai records strong economic growth

(ĐN)- The Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee on Monday held a meeting to review the province’s socio-economic performance in the first eleven months this year and discuss plans for the coming time.

The province recorded a sharp increase in industrial production, investment attraction in local industrial parks and export turnover in the first eleven months of the year. These figures are higher than the same period last year. The value of industry and construction sectors was estimated to reach VND 80 trillion, representing nearly 93 per cent of the years target in the eleven months. Especially, industrial production in the province increased 9.9 percent over the same period last year.

In November alone, the province earned more than US$722 million in export turnover, an increase of nearly 30 percent from the previous month.

Over the past eleven months, Dong Nai has attracted almost US$3 billion in FDI, an increase of 5 per cent over the same period of last year.

Dong Nai’s total budget collection hit nearly VND 13 trillion during the period, equalling 106 per cent of the year’s target.

Addressing at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee asked local relevant agencies to boost inspection work as well as to speed up measures to prevent illegal imitation and contraband goods in order to ensure quality and safety of products to serve local people on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year 2009. Mot also urged localities to implement the second phase of poultry vaccination as well as to strengthen inspection on veterinary hygiene conditions at animal farming establishments…
