(ĐN)- There are 445 chicken farms in Dong Nai province with about 7.4 million birds, Deputy Head of the provincial Veterinary Bureau Tran Van Quang said. These farms are mostly located in two districts of Trang Bom and Thong Nhat. Over the past 3 years, Dong Nai’s farmers have switched from raising free-range chicken to farm-based breeding because it’s easy to adopt measures against epidemics at industrial or closed farms while the traditional free-range model creates opportunities for epidemics to break out and it’s difficult to contain their spread once they do. Using the safe farming model brings farmers a lot of benefits, like money due to cutting costs. A chicken brought up in farms is sold higher than that raised the traditional, free-range way.
