Malaysia’s Berjaya Corporation has been licensed to build a US$2 billion township in the southern province of Dong Nai, the largest foreign investment project in the province so far this year.
The 600-hectare Nhon Trach New City Center, the group’s second project in Dong Nai – some 30 km south of central Ho Chi Minh City – will be conducted in four phases from now until 2020.
The development includes houses, malls and office buildings and will be located near the Long Thanh International Airport, Dau Tu (Investment) newspaper said, without providing further details.
The newspaper also said that Vietnam may reach its full-year target for foreign investment of $20 billion this month.
So far this year, US$18.7 billion in foreign investments has been committed to Vietnam, according to the foreign investment department at the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Dau Tu said.
