Two companies in the southern province of Dong Nai on Thursday compensated local fish-raising farmers VND1.7 billion (US$94,400) for polluting the La Nga River.

The Mauri La Nga Enzyme and the La Nga Sugar companies released untreated waste water into the river last March and April, killing 300 tonnes of fish raised by 27 households in Phu Ngoc Commune, Dinh Quan District.
