(ĐN)- This statement was made by Deputy Minister of Transport Tran Doan Tho at a recent meeting with Dong Nai province’s leaders. The port cluster of Phuoc An and Go Dau in Dong Nai province will be developed as hub ports in the Southeast region and will be classified as the national first class-seaports under the Vision 2030 plan.

The volume of cargo going through ports in the Southeast region till 2010 is estimated to reach approximately 115 million tonnes, accounting for over 50 per cent of the total volume of cargo going through ports across the country.
Under the plan, ports in Dong Nai province will become the region’s main ports including two main port groups: one consisting of Phuoc An and Go Dau ports, other comprising Phu Huu and Nhon Trach ports. In particular, Phuoc An and Go Dau ports will be upgraded to be capable of handling ships of up to 60,000 tonnes and Phu Huu and Nhon Trach ports will be expanded to receive vessels of 30,000 tonnes.
