Lao General Secretary and State President Choummaly Sayasone and Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh made the commitment while receiving Secretary of the Dong Nai provincial Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh in Vientiane yesterday.

The Lao leaders praised the socio-economic results that Vietnamese-invested projects have made in Laos, saying that they help boost Lao economic development as well as the friendship and comprehensive co-operation between the two countries.

They also acclaimed the signing of a US$1 billion project between the Dong Nai-based Long Thanh Company and Vientiane authorities to build a golf course, a five-star hotel and hi-end residential area in the Lao capital.

For his part, Thanh said Dong Nai Province always encourages its businesses to invest in Laos, especially in agro-forestry and the processing industry.

The two sides will first speed up the building of a golf course in Vientiane and growing rubber trees in Champasak Province, he added.
