(ĐN)- In the morning of September 11, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Tran Dinh Thanh had a working session with Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs on poverty reduction work in the province after two years of implementation of the national target program on poverty alleviation in the 2006-2010 period.
Currently, Dong Nai has 27,613 poor households, accounting for 6.15 percent. The districts with high rates of poor households include Vinh Cuu, Tan Phu, Dinh Quan, Cam My, Xuan Loc and Trang Bom. The province has set a target to reduce poor household rate to below 1% by the end of 2010.
Speaking at the working session, Secretary Tran Dinh Thanh praised efforts made by provincial localities during the past two years to escape poverty. However, additional necessary support measures should be considered to speed up the implementation of poverty reduction work in the coming time.
