(ĐN)- In the past years, farmers in Phu Tan commune of Dinh Quan district in Dong Nai province were able to get two crops in the year as there was no water source for irrigation. Hence, the farmers’ lives were very hard.
(ĐN)- In the past years, farmers in Phu Tan commune of Dinh Quan district in Dong Nai province were able to get two crops in the year as there was no water source for irrigation. Hence, the farmers’ lives were very hard. In 2006, 15 farmer households who had public water supply or private water supply from drilled wells for irrigating the crops were selected to implement the trial project with the aim of increasing farmers incomes and improving their lives. The commune adopted more intensive farming techniques to try to generate income of VND 30-50 million per hectare per year. Thanks to the application of modern cultivation techniques, these farmer households achieved the target of earning about VND 45 million per hectare per year. Especially, family of Mr. Pham Thanh Phong eamed nearly VND 60 million per year.
Mr. Le Quang Thang, deputy chairman of the Commune’s People’s Committee said that the commune developed fields earning VND 30-50 million per hectare per year with total area of over 140 ha in 2007.
