(ĐN)- Recently, the province’s Steering Board for the Development of Collective Economy has held a meeting to evaluate the implementation of Action Programme No.24 of the 7th Provincial Party Committee’s Executive Board and Resolution No.5 of the Central Committee of the Party (the 9th tenure) on continuing to renew, develop and improve the effective of the collective economy.

Dong Nai presently has 453 cooperative groups with more than 20,000 members, 306 high-productivity clubs with 9,264 members and 190 cooperatives, cooperative unions, credit funds with a total chartered capital of more than VND307.6 billion. Particularly, there are 66 agricultural cooperatives with a combined capital of over VND109 billion, 20 industrial and home-craft cooperatives with a total investment of nearly VND88.34 billion, and other service cooperatives. However, only 70 percent out of total cooperatives are appreciated as effective operating units. The main reasons are the lack of personnel and capital for production, insufficient infrastructure, etc.
Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh asked the Steering Board for the Development of Collective Economy and the local leaders to make more efforts to train cooperative management personnel and mobilize all resources to develop the collective economy up to 2010. Besides, the localities need to boost the quality of their collective economy and increase the number of effective local economic models.
