(ĐN)- Dong Nai Agriculture Promotion Centre in coordination with South East Fruit Research Center have recently organized a seminar in Dong Nai for 150 custard-apple growers in 5 Southern provinces of Tay Ninh, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Dong Nai. The seminar introduced planting performance and high yielding cultivation techniques for custard-apple trees.
About 7,000 hectares are under custard-apple cultivation in the Southeast region. Particularly, custard-apple trees occupied nearly 1,000 hectares in Dong Nai. The largest growing and production areas in Dong Nai are Tan Phu and Dinh Quan districts. According to agricultural experts, custard-apple which is intercropped with banana and pepper in Dong Nai’s two districts is the main cause of its low economic efficiency, custard-apple should be planted alone and the growers should apply proper techniques for planting, cultivating and fertilization, which will enable them develop fields with income of over VND 100 million per hectare per year.
