(ĐN)- According to information from Trang Bom district’s economic office, the district will develop 10 hectares of Long Dinh 1 red pulp dragon fruit in Ho Nai 3, Song Trau, Hung Thinh and Tay Hoa communes this year. This is a part of economic development project in mountainous communes launched by Ministry of Science and Technology. Until now, 10 households in the district have registered to participate in the project.
Long Dinh 1 Red dragon fruit, were created by cross breeding between Colombian red pulp dragon fruit and Binh Thuan dragon fruit. Because of its good quality, nice shape and great taste, this new fruit soon attracted customers at local markets and expected to be well-known in foreign markets.
In 2005, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development allowed the large scale development of Long Dinh 1 Red dragon fruit in southern provinces.
