The newly constructed Nhan Trach 1 power plant officially began generating electricity for the national grid on May 22.
The first operational phase of the power plant has a capacity of 150 MW. The plant will eventually reach a capacity of 462.8 MW, providing an estimated 2.5 billion kWh to the national power grid per year.
The Vietnam Electricity and Oil and Gas Corporation plant, under the National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), began construction of the plant in March 2007 with a total investment of 405 million USD.
The plant’s gas-turbines are expected to be completed and generate electricity in March 2009.
