In 2007, Dong Nai welcomed the largest number of foreign investors who came and sought investment opportunities in the province. For that reason, Dong Nai province led the country in attracting FDI capital in the year of 2007 with more than $2.63 billion. Over $1.5 billion of the figure was raised by 115 newly-invested projects, the remainder coming from 110 extended projects, of which Formosa raised its capital by $260 million to more than $951 million, becoming the largest investor in Dong Nai currently, Teakwang Vina  invested in $290 million residential area project in Long Tan, Phu Hoi communes and 18 holes golf course with an invested capital of $34.6 million in Nhon Trach district’s Dai Phuoc commune. New projects involving hi-tech industries and the service sector accounted for over 80 per cent of total investment capital, well-suited to the province’s position on attracting investment. This is a good result for Dong Nai in particular and Viet Nam in general one year after joining WTO.

At the same time, Dong Nai’s leaders also received the banks’ representatives coming from Italy, UK, US and Korea, etc.

By the end of November, Thailand business delegation led by former Thai Prime Minister Anand Panyarachun paid a working visit to Dong Nai. At the working visit, the delegation expressed the wish to invest in 3,000 ha high-tech urban area in Long Thanh district. Some members of this delegation were representatives of American and European corporations. Ten years ago, Mr. Anand Panyarachun came to Dong Nai and attended the ground-breaking ceremony of Amata industrial park, a joint venture between Amata Corporation Public Company Limited, Thailand and Sonadezi, Vietnam.

The provincial leaders said that sustainable development is an important strategic goal that Dong Nai is determined to implement. And the most important issue in the province’s sustainable development is that speed of development should be matched by quality of development. Therefore, Dong Nai will make all efforts to promote administrative reform and perfect its "one-door" policy which creates more favorable investment conditions, give priority to high-tech and environmental friendly projects.
