2008: the year of big projects in Dong Nai

A project to build a 55-km road section linking HCM City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay as part of a North-South Express will start by the fourth quarter of this year.

 

The VND18,884 billion project is expected to help boost growth of the southern key economic triangle that combines Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.

 

Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to sponsor US$600 million for the HCM City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay highway project.

 

The first phase, estimated to cost VND9,890 billion, is expected to complete by 2012.

New Dong Nai bridge

The 43-year-old Dong Nai Bridge, with more than 44,000 vehicles crossing by every day, is overloaded and currently at risk of collapse any time if the gridlock on the bridge is continued. Therefore, the Ministry of Transport and Communications has approved a project to build the Dong Nai bridge. The new bridge will be located next to the existing Dong Nai bridge. It will have five lanes with a total width of 20m and a length of 461m. The ministry also approved the construction of an over fly on the National Highway 1A and roads in Tan Van area, bordering Ho Chi Minh City, and the southern provinces of Dong Nai and Binh Duong. The approvals also include the construction of tunnels and branch roads at Vung Tau T junction in Dong Nai province. All of the projects will be built at an estimated cost of VND1,584 billion, including VND668 billion for site clearances.

 

The projects will start in first quarter of 2008 are expected to be completed in 22 months. Dong Nai bridge and Tan Van traffic point are scheduled to be put into operation by April 2009.

New Dong Nai General Hospital

Being one of Dong Nai’s key projects in 2008, the construction of new Dong Nai General Hospital will be started in February. The new hospital with 1,400 beds will cover an area of more than 90,000 ha in Dong Khoi street, Tam Hoa ward, Bien Hoa city. The hospital’s leader also signed a consultant contract with Korean company Yooil Engineering & Architect for the design. The 13 floors hospital is built with a total estimated cost of VND 889.4 billion. When coming into operation, the hospital will meet the new requirements of a modern healthcare system that will lay a foundation for Dong Nai to become a modern-oriented industrialized province.
