Dong Nai maintains high and stable economic growth rate

(ĐN)- On November 12, Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee had a meeting with representatives from departments and branches to review the implementation of the socio-economic performance in 2007 and orientations for 2008.

 

In 2007, Dong Nai continue to maintain a high and stable economic growth rate. Accordingly, Dong Nai saw a GDP increase of 15.1 percent, exceeding the 2007 target. This was the highest growth rate since last five years. Dong Nai’s industrial production value is estimated to reach VND63,538 billion, a year-on-year increase of 22.4 percent, while foreign direct investment reached US$2.1 billion, an increase of US$900 million of the year’s target and 91 percent in comparison with 2006. The province has posted an export - import turnover of US$11.8 billion, of which export generated $5.4 billion, up 28.7 percent from the same period last year. It was projected that the State budget collection reaches 100.1 per cent of the year’s plan. In 2008, Dong Nai will strive to attract VND1.5 billion in FDI and the province’s total development investment capital will be VND27,000 billion.

 

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai asked relevant departments and agencies to continue to implement administrative reform programme aiming to attract more investors to the province.
