
(ĐN)- Dong Nai has attracted over US$1.28 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) during the first nine months of this year, fulfilling more than 85 percent of the year’s plan, increasing 50 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The figure included US$628 million in registered capital from 86 newly-licensed FDI projects and a combined addition of US$400 million from 80 operational projects. Especially, German Schaeffler Group invests US$116.7 million to build a plant in Amata Industrial Zone that will mass-produce products for applications in automotive and aviation industries.
In the past nine months, FDI enterprises reached a total turnover of nearly US$4 billion, 24 percent higher than that of previous year; export turnover of $3.615 billion, up 28 percent; import revenue of $4.4 billion, up 27 percent. The enterprises also contributed VND1,200 billion to state budget and provided jobs to more than 300,000 local laborers.
Dong Nai is currently home to 844 valid foreign-invested projects with a combined registered capital of US$9.865 billion, including 702 enterprises operating in industrial parks and 142 others outside IPs.
Of 32 countries and territories investing in Dong Nai,
FDI continued to pour into the industrial sector (over $9.4 billion), accounting for 95.5 per cent of the total FDI in the province.
Dong Nai is expected to lure several hundred million of dollars in the fourth quarter of 2007.
