(ĐN)- On August 29, the Provincial Standing Committee of the Party held a conference to review five years of implementing the fifth Central Resolution on the development of the cooperative sector. Attending the conference were Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Le Hong Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council Huynh Chi Thang, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai, and Director of Southern Office member of executive board of Vietnam Cooperative Alliance Tran Van Duong.
In the past five years, 155 cooperatives have been set up in Dong Nai with total charter capital of over VND189.6 billion and more than 33,000 members, 85.6 percent higher than that of 2002. They include 61 agricultural service cooperatives, 15 industrial and handicraft cooperatives 25 trading and service cooperatives, 17 transport cooperatives, 20 People’s credit funds and others. According to the report, over 80 per cent of cooperatives have operated effectively in the past time.
Speaking at the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary Le Hong Phuong stressed that further efforts should be made in the next time to consolidate cooperative economic sector, increase number of cooperatives, multiply new advanced models of cooperatives in accordance with the province’s socio-economic development conditions and focus on training cooperative management personnel.
