A ceramic tile manufacturer has become the 46th listed company at the HCM City Securities Trading Centre.

Transactions were for 2,000 shares of the Thanh Thanh Joint Stock Company, coded as TTC, at the price of VND19,000.

The Dong Nai Province-based company has equity capital of VND40 billion (US$2.5 million), with the State holding 51 per cent.

The company has an annual capacity of 6 million square metres of products, the eighth largest among more than 50 similar businesses. The industry in Viet Nam rolls out 170 million square metres.

Last year the company sold 5 million square metres, accounting for nearly four-percent share of the domestic market.

General Director Tran Hung Luong said Thanh Thanh products had entered markets including Thailand, Pakistan, Cambodia, Korea and Australia.

The company’s export value in the first six months reached $1.1 million, exceeding this year’s total target of $1 million.

Last year, Thanh Thanh netted a profit of VND5.8 billion from a VND229 billion turnover, up from 2004’s figures of VND2 billion and VND174 billion, respectively.

This year the company expected a total turnover of VND251 billion that would yield VND6.5 billion in net profit. The figures should rise to VND281 billion and VND6.75 billion in 2007.

Shareholders will receive 12 per cent dividends this year but will earn more in 2007 as the rate is expected to increase to 20 per cent.

One other ceramics manufacturer, Chang Yih, is also listed on the HCM City exchange.
