(ĐN)- The rural development and agricultural Department of Dong Nai province is targeted to reach production value of more than VND6,660 billion this year, 5.5 percent higher than that of 2006. Particularly, the production value of agriculture will be VND6,136 billion, forestry at VND65. 853 billion, and fishery at VND460.374 billion. The figure was released at a meeting to review the performance in 2006 and discuss tasks for 2007 held on March 15 by the rural development and agricultural Department of Dong Nai province . To achieve this target, the sector needs to focus on stepping up agriculture, forestry and fishery production with orientation towards product’s quality and productivity enhancement, combining agricultural production with the processing industry and the export market, applying advanced scientific technology in agriculture, taking drastic measures to prevent bird flu in poultry and humans and foot and mouth disease.
Although facing many difficulties because of Ray Nau (brown plant hoppers) epidemic, yellow snail epidemic, bird flu, foot and mouth disease, etc, the rural development and agricultural sector still achieved 100% of the 2006 target, up 5.5 % compared to the previous year.
