This information was released at a conference held in Dong Nai on January 19 by the provincial Industry Department to review industrial production in 2006 and discuss orientations and tasks for 2007.

On orientations for future tasks and the plan of action for 2007, the report from the provincial Industry Department emphasised:

The province will focus on developing key industrial products, spearhead industries and supportive industries as well as increasing the competitiveness of products. Dong Nai province will prioritise such sectors as machanics, electronics, electricity and new materials production and it plans to select 16 key industrial products in 2007. Dong Nai’s industrial sector will also focus on the production of high-tech and high added value products.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Industry Minister Bui Xuan Khu said that the provincial Industry Department should enhance its role as an consultant for local authorities to develop the industry sector and to accelerate the industrialization process in the province. Khu also noted that regarding the structure of products, key products should be those of high value and ensure that these products remain competitive on world markets. He pointed out the need for Dong Nai to build more industrial parks and important economic areas to further promote its economic and investment potentials and ensure the sustainable development of the province.
