I believe that Vietnamese consumers prefer to buy the domestic products including CP’s products. We have been proud to establish a good relationship with farmers in the area over the past 11 years in order to secure trust and willingness to cooperate. In addition, the company is controlling the whole production process from the farm to the consumer. I also hope that a positive relationship will be developed and maintained between CP Company and local farmers which will combine support and trust. The company expects to increase its investment between $1 billion and $1.5 billion over next five years.

The General Director of Nike Vietnam Amanda Tucker: Viet Nam officially became the 150th member of WTO on November 7. This is an important event for Vietnam in general and Nike in particular because US will also approve Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) for Vietnam. Accordingly, Vietnam will enjoy the tax rates similar to those that US apply to its other commercial partners, this leads to that our ordering plans from Nike Vietnam contract factories will be more flexible and stable. Vietnam’s textile export quota to the US will be abolished. We are trying our best to assure that the anti-dumping taxes will be not applied to Vietnamese textile and garment enterprises that export products to US.
WTO membership will give Vietnam increased access to foreign markets and the opportunity to take trade grievances to a neutral arbiter, strengthening its hand against nations that accuse Vietnam of illegally dumping goods on their markets. Under WTO rules, dealing with an internationally traded product is more straightforward and a country must treat foreign and domestic goods equally. These are very important for Nike Company because we are facing several difficulties in exporting shoes and garments made in Vietnam to EU and Latin-American countries.
I believe that Vietnam will attract more and more foreign investors for its rich human resources, favorable policies and mechanisms to ensure a fair environment for the competition and development of enterprises, convenient transportation, communication and infrastructure facilities.
