
(ĐN)- Chairman of Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot recently chaired a meeting with related agencies to review socio-economic development in August and in the past eight months and discuss directions for next month.
According to report from the Provincial People’s Committee, it is estimated that the province’s gross industrial output value reached over 4,373 billion VND in August, an increase of 1.8 percent over the previous month. From January to August, the aggregate industrial output value exceeded 32,000 billion VND, up 18 percent over the same period last year, fulfilling 63.6 per cent of the year’s target. In which, foreign-invested enterprises registered the highest production value of exceeding 21,640 billion VND, and was followed by the central state-owned enterprises of over 4,606 billion VND, the non-state enterprises of exceeding 4,176 billion VND, and the local state-owned enterprises of over 1,576 billion VND.
Particularly, Dong Nai province lured 64 projects more worth more than 231 million US dollars in August. The province has so far licensed 736 projects with a total capital of 8.475 billion US dollars.
Besides, the province aslo saw positive changes in social and cultural aspects in the past eight months. The province has provided jobs for 61,280 laborers, reached of 76.6% the year target. Accordingly, 33,270 laborers are now working at enterprises, 90 workers are sent abroad for training and work; the province has also created on-the-spot jobs for 27,920 laborers through the province’s social - economic program.
In September, the province will focus on the main duties as follows: to set up the five-year plan of social and economic development for 2006-2010, to develop way to resolve common issues related to industrial development and land use in the province.
