Dong Nai’s GDP is estimated to rise by 13.8 per cent in the first half of this year. Dong Nai saw high growth in industrial output, export value, investments and budget collection … The province’s total industrial output value reached VND 23,500 billion in the first six months of this year, up 17.8 per cent from the previous year. The non-state owned sector posted the highest production value growth of 22.6 percent, followed by the foreign invested sector, with 19.5 percent, and the State-owned sector, with nearly 10 percent.
In the first six months of the year, about 55 new non-state onwed companies have been set up in the province, created many jobs for laborers and benefited the growth of the sector. Especially, the export wood processing industry had the highest production value, accounting for 19.4 per cent of total production of the non-state-owned sector. Besides, 34 new foreign invested companies were set up during the first six months. Foreign invested sector contributed about 66 per cent of total production value in the province. Industrial sectors which saw high growth rates include food and drink of 22.4 per cent, textile of 19.8 per cent, footwear of 26.5 per cent, chemical and chemical products of 18 per cent …
On the other hand, Dong Nai earned nearly US$ 2 billion from exports in the first six months, up 33.4 percent over the same period last year, fulfilling 50.5 per cent of the year’s target. Of the turnover, US$1.8 billion came from foreign investment sector (up 33.8 per cent), US$86.8 million from local enterprises (up 23.8 per cent) and US$37.6 million from central enterprises located in Dong Nai (up 36.8 per cent). During the last months, the province shipped 37,020 tonnes of coffee (up 30 percent) and 2,617 tonnes of cashew nuts (up 13.6 percent). It also exported 11.5 million USD worth of footwear, 12.2 million USD worth of wood furniture and 17.3 million USD of garments. Among enterprises that recorded high increase in export values are Tin Nghia company, Dong Nai Rubber Company, Dong Nai Garment Company, Dong Tien Garment Company, NET Detergent Joint Stock Company, etc. However, the export turnover of some items such as hand-made pottery, black pepper, bee honey has dropped considerably in the first six months. Accordingly, export turnover of handicrafts products reached only US$ 2.3 million, reduced 51.9%; black pepper dropped 40% and bee honey decreased 7%.
Dong Nai’s export turnover increased significantly in the first six months of the year because many foreign invested enterprises with high export turnover maintained stable production and therefore fulfilled their customers’ orders. They included Fujitsu with export turnover of US$ 250.4 million (up 1.5%), Taekwang with turnover of US$ 78.5 million (up 1.2%) and Pouchen with US$ 71.5 million (up 10.5%).
During the past months, the fields of development investment, credit and state budget collection in Dong Nai reached high growth rate. The province’s development investment capital hit VND 6,807 billion, a year-on-year increase of 15.2%. Of the figure, the investment capital of the local state sector increased by 12.6%, while the central state sector’s capital was up by 13.5%, and the foreign investment capital up by 17.5%.
In the field of currency and banking, commercial banks in Dong Nai has achieved total mobilized capital of VND 11,000 billion, up 15%, of which deposits from individuals reached 686 billion VND. Total loans increased 19.6%, with VND 14,766 billion; of the loans, short-term loans amounted to VND12.757 billion and long and medium-term loans made up VND 2,009 billion. Until the end of June, the banks’ loan balance hit around VND 15,049 billion, an increase of 13.7% compared to the end of 2005.
Total budget collection of Dong Nai was estimated to achieve over VND 3,837 billion in first six months of this year, or 44 percent of the year plan, 8 percent higher than that of 2005, in which domestic collection amounted VND2,503.6 billion, an raising of 13%.
