The consumer price index (CPI) in July increased by 0.4 percent against the June figure, with the CPI in the urban area rising by 0.5 percent and in the rural area by 0.3 percent, according to the Domestic Market Management Group.
Notably, the group of cultural, sports and entertainment services rose by 0.9 percent, the group of housing and building materials by 0.8 percent and the group of food and food services by 0.4 percent.
Exports in July were estimated at US$3.5 billion, an increase of 21.9 percent from a year earlier. The July export figure brought total export value in the past seven months to US$22.338 billion, a year-on-year increase of 25.7 percent.
According to the Group, the purchasing power is expected to increase slightly in August due to a high demand for necessities and services in preparation for the new school year, Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day celebrations. The prices of fertilisers, sugar and construction steel are forecast to drop slightly thanks to oversupply on the market. Therefore, the CPI in August is expected to rise by 0.3 percent.
