(ĐN) - Many enterprises in Dong Nai province are encountering labor shortage, mainly due to workers having more employment alternatives,
quitting jobs for higher salaries and more attractive polices elsewhere…As a consequence of the industrial production decrease, the total industrial output of Dong Nai in the first month of this year was only VND 3,600 billion, a 7 percent decrease from last year’s level. The breakdown figures attribute that much industrial output to foreign-invested enterprises amounting to VND 2,511 billion (-1.8 per cent), VND 538 billion for central state-owned enterprises (- 20 per cent), over VND 400 billion for the non-state enterprises (-3 per cent), VND 171 billion for local state-owned enterprises (-15 per cent) …
After Tet holidays, most of local firms restarted production on the eighth day or the nineth day of the New Year but labor shortages in both domestic and foreign firms are now found very serious. Statistics show that the number of workers in local enterprises has been around 10-30 per cent below the 2005 figure.
