The Ministry of Planning and Investment has approved Vifons sale of a 21% stake in Ajinomoto Vietnam to Japanese partner Ajinomoto Corporation, making the venture all Japanese-owned. The venture was licensed the venture in 1991 with total registered capital of US$ 8.3 million and later increased to US$ 61 million. Following the acquisition of Vifons stake, Ajinomoto Vietnam has registered capital of US$ 53.2 million.
