Local social - economic situation first 5 months of 2005

(ĐN) – In the morning of May 23, 05, a conference with its purpose of evaluating the provincial social and economic situation during the first 5 months by 2005 was presided over by Mr. Vo Van Mot as Chairman of the Provincial Peoples’ Committee.

(ĐN) – In the morning of May 23, 05, a conference with its purpose of evaluating the provincial social and economic situation during the first 5 months by 2005 was presided over by Mr. Vo Van Mot as Chairman of the Provincial Peoples’ Committee.

According to the Provincial Peoples’ Committee’s report, during the first 5 months by 2005, the local industrial values has been estimated to reach up VND 16,687 billions, this accounted for 41.49% of the year plan. It increased up 19% against the same period last year. Remarkably, many industries that belong to sectors of the state, non-state and being invested by foreigners have been obtained high value. Values of the following industries have increased higher than those of the same period last year namely foodstuff and natural drink of 30%, tobacco of 24%, textile and garments of 32%, wood processing of 51%, chemical of 20%, furniture and computer of 42% and so on. Industrial value of some sectors, however, has decreased lower than that of the same period as caused by unstable consumption market. In which, the state-run electronics industry under the control of the Central Government has decreased 11% against the same period. Values of other industries that belong to the state sector and the another ones have been also lower 2-30% than those of the same period such as footwear, chemical, regional printing and publishing, export hand-made pottery and so forth.

At the same time, values of the provincial agriculture, forest and aquiculture were considerable. Up to May 10, 05, the provincial cultivated area of the winter – spring crop has spread over 33,109 hectares, this accounted for up 88% of the year plan. Main plants of this crop are expected to obtain high yield and these will be increased higher than those of the same period including rice of 46.55 quintals per hectare, corn of 59.16 quintals per hectare, tobacco of 8.68 quintals per hectare etc. With regard to breeding capacity of agriculture, quantity of the local pigs increased higher 17% against the same period. Quantity of the local oxen was an increase of 11% in comparison with the same period.

In the other hand, export turnover of the local enterprises has reached up USD 1,199 millions, this increased up 28% in comparison with the same period. In which, its enterprises of the Central Government obtained USD 19.2 millions, its local enterprises attained USD 67.5 millions, its foreign invested ones up USD 1,112 millions.

Generally, the provincial cultural and social actions have been carried out following guidelines as proposed by the local authority. Specially, actions in cerebration of the great holidays have caught the public.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Vo Van Mot drew the local businesses’ attention to review their before-made plan carefully and find out better solutions for speeding up the provincial economic and social growth rapidly in the last months of this year as well as making best achievements to attain the local growth targets by 2005 .
