Long Thanh Ward is home to numerous key projects currently under construction, particularly transport infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity to Long Thanh International Airport.

Several projects nearing completion

In mid-October 2026, Long Thanh Ward completed the handover of all required land to relevant units for the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh section of the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway and the Le Duan Street Upgrade and Expansion Project passing through the locality.

Earlier, in late September 2026, Long Thanh Ward held a meeting to encourage the last remaining households to hand over land needed for the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh Expressway Expansion Project in the ward. Following the meeting, all the households reached a consensus, signed documents to receive compensation and support payments, and committed to handing over their land.

According to the Long Thanh Ward People's Committee, the expressway expansion and Le Duan Street upgrade are key transport infrastructure projects being implemented in the ward to gradually improve the local transport network, support local development, and strengthen connectivity to Long Thanh Airport. The two projects require the acquisition of more than 5 hectares of land. Although the total area is relatively small, the projects affect hundreds of households. Therefore, in addition to ensuring transparency throughout land acquisition, compensation, and site clearance procedures, Long Thanh Ward has intensified public communication and outreach efforts to secure consensus among affected residents.

The Long Thanh Ward People's Committee also reported that it had completed compensation and support work under the Compensation, Support, and Resettlement Project, creating a clean land fund for auctioning land use rights within the 1:2,000 scale zoning plan for the Long Thanh Urban–Commercial–Service Area in Binh An Commune and Long Thanh Ward.

Before completing site handovers for the two projects, Long Thanh Ward had also handed over all required land for the 25B Road Upgrade and Expansion Project passing through the locality. This is another key project of critical importance for transport connectivity serving Long Thanh Airport.

Le Hoang Son, Deputy Secretary of the Long Thanh Ward Party Committee and Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, said, "Numerous major projects and construction works of central and city authorities are under way in the ward, requiring local authorities to coordinate and handle a substantial volume of site clearance work. Recognizing site clearance as a central and critical task, Long Thanh Ward has given top priority to allocating personnel to this work. Alongside accelerating the processing of relevant documents, the ward has established outreach teams to inform and encourage residents to hand over their land promptly, creating favorable conditions for project construction."

Accelerating construction following site handover

By late October 2026, with virtually all required land handed over, contractors implementing the 25B Road Upgrade and Expansion Project were focusing on measures to accelerate construction.

Luong The Hoang, Executive Director of the Joint Venture for Package 10 of the 25B Road Upgrade and Expansion Project, said, "Previously, difficulties in site handover resulted in fragmented construction activities and hindered project implementation. With Long Thanh and Nhon Trach wards having completed the handover of all required land, favorable conditions are now in place to accelerate construction. On the newly handed-over sites, the contractor is mobilizing workers and machinery around the clock, organizing construction into “three shifts and four crews” to complete the drainage culvert system as soon as possible, followed by road embankment filling, laying a crushed-stone base, and asphalt paving. Under the plan, in early November 2026, weather permitting, the contractor will deploy five road construction teams, four drainage teams, one bridge construction team, one tree-planting team, one asphalt concrete paving team, and three sidewalk construction teams, with the goal of achieving a technical opening to traffic for the entire route by the end of 2026."

Regarding the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh Expressway Expansion Project, Pham Hong Quang, General Director of the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), said contractors were accelerating construction in an effort to complete the project on schedule, meet transport connectivity requirements and support Long Thanh Airport during its operational phase. The project is targeted for substantial completion by the end of 2026, while the Long Thanh Bridge component is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027.

According to Le Hoang Son, alongside projects for which site handovers have been completed, the ward is stepping up site clearance for other key projects, including the upgrade and expansion of Provincial Road 769 and the drainage system outside the perimeter of Long Thanh Airport. For the Provincial Road 769 Upgrade and Expansion Project passing through the locality, more than 93% of the required land has been handed over, with the ward striving to complete the handover of the remaining area in early November 2026.
