Colonel Vo Thanh Danh receives Cambodia’s Thibdin-class Friendship Order

The Dong Nai City Military Command announced that Colonel Vo Thanh Danh, Member of the Dong Nai City Party Committee’s Standing Board and Commander of the City Military Command, was awarded the Thibdin-class Friendship Order by the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia on August 14 in Kampong Thom Province, Kingdom of Cambodia. The award was presented in recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions to coordinating the search for, collection, and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia.

The event demonstrates the Cambodian Government’s appreciation for the sustained efforts of the Dong Nai City Military Command in carrying out this particularly sacred mission. It also contributes to underscoring the depth of the traditional solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia, carefully nurtured by successive generations.

The award also represents state-level recognition of the responsibility, prestige, and practical contributions of a leading officer in an area of profound political significance, deeply imbued with moral and humanitarian values; in which the results of the mission are closely linked to historical responsibility, the interests of the families of fallen heroes, and the friendship between the two nations and their peoples.

For many years, in his capacity as a leading officer, Colonel Vo Thanh Danh has consistently identified the search for and collection of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia as a special political mission, as well as a duty and moral obligation to those who devoted their youth and sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

In fulfilling this noble international duty, he and the Party Committee and Military Command of Dong Nai City have focused on providing close leadership and guidance, strengthening personnel, and ensuring the equipment and conditions necessary for Team K72 to carry out its mission. At the same time, he has proactively strengthened cooperative relations with the authorities, armed forces, and people of Cambodian localities in communication and mobilization efforts, gathering and verifying information, conducting field surveys, and organizing searches for the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia.
