Dong Nai's aspiration to become a centrally governed city not only marks a turning point in its change of administrative name but also a historic "boost" that sparks great expectations among its residents.
On the threshold of entering a new stage of development, people in Dong Nai expect not only a modern urban landscape or an intelligent transportation system but also the effective use of local advantages and potential to achieve economic growth appropriate to its status.

Chu The Thanh, Director of Thanh Phat Transport Service Cooperative (Trang Dai ward):
Valuing and supporting the growth of the cooperative economy
It is necessary and important for Dong Nai to become a city to promote socio-economic development of the locality. After becoming a city, we expect the province’s potential to be further unleashed. In particular, building a business environment and improving competitiveness of enterprises and economic sectors play a very important role. When the State pays attention and creates conditions to remove difficulties and obstacles, the State-owned economic sector, foreign direct investment or private economic sector, and cooperatives will have more motivation to expand production and business activities.
As collective economic units, under the two-tier local government system and especially the urban government model, cooperatives hope to receive more support and favorable conditions in business operations. Administrative procedures should continue to be simplified and implemented online, along with support in accessing loans and technical training.

Linda Chiang, officer of the Factory Management Division, Longwell Co., Ltd.
(Dau Giay commune):
Expecting a better investment and business environment
I am very pleased with the news that Dong Nai province will develop into a city, and that Dau Giay commune will soon become a ward.
Dong Nai province in general and Dau Giay commune in particular have major advantages in transport connectivity. In addition, the Long Thanh Airport project is nearing completion and preparing for operations, opening up many development opportunities.
With the infrastructure foundation and new development orientation, I believe the investment environment in Dau Giay as well as in Dong Nai province will become increasingly favorable and attractive for enterprises. At the same time, I also expect that once the province is upgraded to a centrally governed city, there will be more policies supporting businesses, especially in labor attraction as well as continued improvement and simplification of administrative procedures, creating more favorable conditions for production and business activities in the coming time.

Ho Thi Hien, a resident from Long Binh ward:
Anticipating a major improvement in the lives of workers
As a migrant worker who has been attached to Dong Nai for many years, I feel very happy and proud to hear that the locality will soon become a city. For workers like me, the greatest wish is that Dong Nai’s upgrading to city status will attract more enterprises and factories to invest, thereby creating more stable jobs and increasing workers’ income. I also hope infrastructure will be more synchronously invested in, roads expanded, travel more convenient, and traffic congestion reduced, making daily life easier.
In addition, I hope living costs, especially rent, electricity and water prices, will be reasonably managed so workers won’t face financial pressure as urbanization develops. I also expect services such as healthcare, education and entertainment to receive more investment, helping workers’ families enjoy better living conditions. I strongly believe and expect that when Dong Nai becomes a city, workers’ lives will be increasingly stable, sufficient and clearly improved.

Wishing for more policies to promote the growth of agricultural tourism
The news that Dong Nai will become a centrally governed city is very encouraging for the business community. We expect that when Dong Nai becomes a city, there will be additional special policies to strongly develop infrastructure serving agriculture.
Specifically, the province should invest in road systems to facilitate container transport of export agricultural products and improve the electricity system to better serve production as well as preliminary processing and processing of export agricultural products. In particular, I hope the province will introduce more policies to encourage agricultural tourism development, contributing to added value for farming areas as well as promoting Vietnamese agricultural products.

Expecting ongoing changes in rural areas
Upon the news that Tan Phu commune will become a ward as Dong Nai province becomes a centrally governed city, we - farmers - feel very pleased. During the process of building new-style rural areas, the locality has undergone impressive changes in its appearance thanks to synchronous infrastructure investment, especially roads and electricity serving production development.
As Tan Phu becomes a ward, we hope to continue receiving stronger infrastructure investment, faster urbanization, and further renewal of the rural landscape. Accordingly, transportation of agricultural products and people’s travel will become more convenient, local agricultural products will access broader markets, and residents will have higher incomes and better living quality.
