On the morning of March 27, Ta Lai commune held a ceremony to mark the 85th anniversary of the Ta Lai prison break by steadfast revolutionary soldiers (March 27, 1941-2026). The commemorative event took place at the historical site in hamlet 4, Ta Lai commune, Dong Nai province.

Le Thi Hoa Thuan, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ta Lai Commune Party Committee, said that the 85th anniversary is an opportunity to recall a heroic chapter of history, to honor the indomitable spirit, unwavering will, and deep patriotism of previous generations. It also reminds each of us of our responsibility to preserve, inherit, and promote those noble values in today’s cause of national construction and defense.

A “red address” of tradition

85 years ago, on March 27, 1941, Communist Party members Duong Quang Dong, Tran Van Giau, Tran Van Kiet, Truong Van Nham, Nguyen Cong Trung, Nguyen Van Duc, To Ky, and Chau Van Giac escaped from Ta Lai prison to continue revolutionary activities, later became a core force in strengthening the Cochinchina Party Committee.

“The Ta Lai prison break marked an important historical milestone, reflecting the indomitable, resilient, and heroic struggle of communist soldiers; it also embodies the determination to fight for national independence,” emphasized Le Thi Hoa Thuan.

The event dating back to March 27, 85 years ago, remains a powerful symbol of unity, courage, and the intellect of revolutionary soldiers in the face of the enemy. It not only preserved key revolutionary forces for continued struggle but also inspired patriotism, becoming a “red address” for educating younger generations about revolutionary traditions.

Inheritance and development

Trinh Van Luan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Ta Lai commune, said that for the 2025-2030 term, the Ta Lai Commune Party Committee has set out key directions: strengthening a clean and strong Party and political system; preserving cultural identity and promoting unity among ethnic groups; accelerating digital transformation; mobilizing resources for socio-economic development; ensuring national defense and security; and building Ta Lai into an increasingly civilized and developed locality.

On March 12, 2021, the Provincial People’s Committee issued Decision No. 815/QD-UBND, recognizing the site witnessing the Ta Lai prison break on March 27, 1941 as a provincial-level historical relic. This has since become a “red address” for traditional education for local generations.

In its development orientation, the Party Organization of Ta Lai commune focuses on five key tasks and two breakthrough areas tailored to local conditions. These include developing safe agriculture based on circular, organic, and high-tech models; building product value chains; implementing synchronized planning; and tapping into local tourism potential by promoting eco-tourism, cultural tourism, and community-based tourism. The goal is to position Ta Lai as a representative “green destination” of Dong Nai province.

Trinh Van Luan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Ta Lai commune, said, "The driving force behind Ta Lai’s progress lies not only in the comprehensively invested infrastructure but also in the strong determination of the entire Party Organization, local authorities, and residents. Particularly, inheriting the revolutionary traditions of our predecessors and promoting the role of this ‘red address’ are essential to educating today’s generation to cherish the past, express gratitude, and strive for future development,” he noted.
