Contributing to this achievement, the Border Guard Forces of the three provinces have played a key and specialized role, strengthening coordination and close cooperation in managing and protecting the border in general, especially in the adjacent areas. This has ensured the firm safeguarding of borderlines and markers, contributing to building borders of peace, stability, and development.

Adjacent border areas remain peaceful and stable

At the recent Conference on Coordination for Border Management and Protection in Adjacent Areas, Colonel Nguyen Anh Duc, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Military Command and Commander of the Provincial Border Guard Command, emphasized that thanks to the close cooperation among the Border Guards of the three provinces of Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, and Lam Dong in recent times, the adjacent border areas have remained peaceful, stable, and prosperous, contributing to the firm protection of territorial sovereignty, national border security, maintaining political stability, and ensuring security, order, and social safety in border regions.

The notable results of the coordination between the three aforementioned provinces in 2025 were demonstrated in many aspects. The Border Guards of the three provinces directed their agencies and units to thoroughly grasp and coordinate the implementation of the contents of the 2025 Coordination Plan for the border management and protection in adjacent areas and to strictly maintain the implementation of treaties and agreements on the regulations for border areas and border gates. They maintained strict combat readiness, firmly grasped the situation, synchronously deployed border management measures to protect the safety of the border and the area, effectively fought against crimes and violations in the adjacent areas, and proactively handled situations and incidents in a timely and effective manner, ensuring no passivity or surprise. They also carried out effective border diplomacy, actively participated in building strong border areas, and contributed to establishing peaceful and stable borderlines with cooperation for mutual development.

Colonel Nguyen Anh Duc stated that following the provincial merger, this work needs to be further strengthened and coordinated more closely in activities to ensure that the border area in general, and especially the adjacent areas, remains peaceful, stable, and prosperous, building a safe and stable border belt and contributing to the cause of protecting national border sovereignty and security.

Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Duc Thang, Chief of Loc Thinh Border Gate Station, Provincial Border Guard, stated that implementing the coordination plan in 2025, Loc Thinh Border Gate Station and Tong Le Chan Border Station (Tay Ninh Provincial Border Guard) coordinated 24 meetings to notify and exchange information and 5 emergency information exchanges; 45 patrol information exchanges; and 45 joint patrols with the participation of 630 officers and soldiers; they also jointly cleared boundary lines 12 times with 85 officers and soldiers involved. Thanks to these efforts, the system of borderlines, markers, and boundary signs has been maintained intact, and no violations of law have occurred in the border area.

Meanwhile, Dac Bo Border Station (Dong Nai province) and Bu Chap Border Station (Lam Dong province) held 24 regular meetings and information exchanges, 8 emergency exchanges, and 55 coordinated meetings between working groups and teams.

In addition to effectively implementing coordinated tasks according to the plan, agencies under the Border Guard Commands of the provinces worked closely and efficiently in their assigned duties. The Professional Division of the Dong Nai and Tay Ninh Provincial Border Guard Commands exchanged and coordinated on a piece of information regarding 2 citizens living in Dong Nai who showed signs of being deceived into going to Cambodia for so-called “easy jobs with high pay." Through this exchange, the two sides successfully cooperated to rescue the citizens and bring them safely back to Vietnam.

In 2025, the functional agencies of the Dong Nai Provincial Border Guard coordinated to exchange information weekly with the Lam Dong Provincial Border Guard Command 95 times and 19 times on an ad-hoc basis; they also held 6 meetings to exchange information on border situations at adjacent units. With Tay Ninh Border Guard Command, they exchanged information 91 times and met 4 times at adjacent units to discuss border situations. These exchanges have promptly helped with grasping the situation, handling it, and advising on effective responses, thereby contributing to maintaining peace and stability in the adjacent border areas.

Strengthening closer coordination

Also at the aforementioned conference, the delegates agreed that in 2026 and the coming time, the coordination in protecting the adjacent border areas needs to be further strengthened. This is especially important in adjacent zones with complex terrain and characteristics such as dense forests, rivers, streams, and sparsely populated areas.

After the merger, the borderline of Dong Nai province is 258.939 km long, with 8 border communes adjacent to the 3 provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia: Mondulkiri, Kratié, and Tboung Khmum. Lam Dong province has a land border of 141.045 km with 5 border communes adjacent to Mondulkiri province, Kingdom of Cambodia, and 185 km of coastline with 13 communes, wards, and Phu Quy special zone. Tay Ninh province has a borderline 368.695 km long, with 19 border communes adjacent to 3 provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia: Tboung Khmum, Svay Rieng, and Prey Veng. Therefore, coordinated efforts must be further strengthened with effective and rigorous solutions.

Colonel Nguyen Anh Duc affirmed that the tighter and more effective the coordination in border management, and protection in the adjacent areas, the more the Border Guard Forces of the localities can fulfill their core and specialized functions. The functional agencies and subordinate border stations will have a basis to continue coordinating effectively in managing and protecting a firm, peaceful, stable, and developing border.

The Commander of the Dong Nai Provincial Border Guard also requested that the Border Guard Commands of the three provinces continue to do a good job of regularly seeking the opinions and attention of local authorities, especially for communes with adjacent borders. This would enable the political system, departments, agencies, and functional forces to jointly and effectively carry out the tasks of managing and protecting national border sovereignty and security in general, and the adjacent border areas in particular.

Colonel Nguyen Anh Duc emphasized that the advisory agencies of the Border Guard Commands of the three provinces should continue to advise and assist the Provincial Border Guard Commands, strictly maintaining regular and ad hoc information exchange regimes and proactively coordinating with professional agencies in grasping, assessing, forecasting, and concluding situational factors to advise and propose measures and strategies in managing and protecting national sovereignty and border security. They must strictly maintain combat readiness; proactively deploy patrol and control activities to strictly monitor the borderlines, border gates, and assigned areas; and advise and propose the effective implementation of border diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy with authorities, armed forces, and people on both sides of the border.

Border stations need to coordinate closely in managing and protecting the adjacent border areas..., contributing along with the Provincial Border Guards to advising effectively and performing well the specialized role in managing and firmly protecting national sovereignty and border security.
