In 2026, the agricultural sector continues to promote restructuring, develop ecological agriculture, organic agriculture, and high-tech application agriculture in the direction of large-scale commodity production, and promote exports of key and advantageous agricultural products of the province.

Achievements create motivation for development

According to data from the Statistics Office, the production value of agriculture - forestry - fishery of Dong Nai province in 2025 reached more than 82.2 trillion VND, increasing by 3.22% compared to the same period in 2024. This marked a year when the agricultural sector of Dong Nai province achieved good growth in all fields of livestock, cultivation, and aquaculture.

By the end of 2025, the total area of fruit trees reached more than 101.8 thousand hectares, increasing by more than 737 hectares; the area of perennial industrial crops reached more than 513.3 thousand hectares, increasing by more than 101 hectares compared to the same period in 2024. In 2025, climate change negatively affected crop productivity. However, with soil advantages, key perennial crops with large areas and productive areas continued to increase, thereby making output and production value of crops continue to rise. In particular, rubber output increased strongly thanks to stable purchasing prices and the recovery of import demand from the United States and China, creating motivation for enterprises to invest in crop care and replace old varieties with new, high-yield ones.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Van Thang, in recent times, the agricultural sector has had a clear shift in production and export mindset. Instead of prioritizing quantity, many product lines have focused on quality, brand, and market segments. In particular, many enterprises increasingly focus on investing in deep processing, better meeting standards of demanding markets. This proves that there is a strong transformation in mindset from agricultural production to agricultural economy, together with promoting trade promotion and market expansion.

This is clearly shown in the export growth of key agricultural products of the province in 2025. Specifically, rubber export turnover surpassed 1.35 billion USD, up more than 37.4%; wood and wooden products reached nearly 2.7 billion USD, up 34.87%; cashew nuts amounted to nearly 2.8 billion USD, up 30.78%; coffee hit nearly 1.6 billion USD, up nearly 15.2%; pepper exceeded 185 million USD, up more than 8.5%.

According to the Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang, Dong Nai province identifies the application of science and technology in production, preservation, and processing of agricultural products and food as a particularly important breakthrough stage to promote the development of agricultural production and rural economy.

Expectation of new breakthroughs

In recent years, the growing area and output of fruit trees in the province have grown well. Specifically, banana cultivation area covered nearly 20.3 thousand hectares, with output exceeding 676.5 thousand tons, increasing nearly 1.7% in area but rising nearly 6.9% in output. Durian growing area surpassed 24.9 thousand hectares, with output reaching more than 158.7 thousand tons, increasing nearly 0.8% in area but rising more than 5% in output compared to the same period. Many other crops bringing high economic efficiency such as grapefruit and jackfruit also recorded increases in both growing area and output.

The increase in growing area and output of the above crops is due to farmers’ bold shift to crops that bring higher economic benefits. Farmers also increasingly focus on applying new science and technology in production and proactively adjusting crop seasons to adapt to the market. At the same time, solutions in product processing and planning of concentrated cultivation areas have helped improve productivity, stabilize output and product value.

The livestock situation in the province in 2025 was relatively stable. By the end of 2025, the total herd of livestock reached more than 3.9 million head, up nearly 1% compared to the same period. The total pig herd amounted to nearly 3.8 million head, up more than 0.9% compared to the same period. The total poultry flock reached more than 35.6 million, up 2.5% compared to the same period.

The province has attracted many corporations and enterprises to invest in agriculture and rural areas, especially in livestock under a closed chain from production to processing and consumption. In which, the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program has encouraged, attracted as well as opened start-up opportunities for many enterprises and cooperatives in agricultural product processing.

Nguyen Quang Huy, Director of Hoang Linh Linh One Member Co., Ltd. (Cam My Commune) said: To increase competitiveness, the enterprise invests large capital in upgrading machinery systems towards automation, applying high technology in processing stages to both reduce production costs and improve product quality. The enterprise’s products achieving 4-star OCOP certification is highly significant for brand building to compete well in both domestic and export markets.

In 2025, the OCOP Program of Dong Nai province continued to achieve outstanding results. Cumulatively, the whole province has 460 OCOP products, with 11 products rated 5 stars and 91 others certified as 4 stars. These are advantages for the provincial agricultural sector to continue promoting high-tech application in large-scale commodity production, attracting investment in deep processing, and boosting exports of the province’s advantageous agricultural products.
