According to the Southern Expressway Project Management Unit (SEPMU) under the Vietnam Expressway Corporation, the project requires the recovery of more than four hectares of land in Nhon Trach, Long Thanh and An Phuoc communes, Dong Nai province.
To date, following extensive mobilisation efforts, 100 percent of the project land area in the section passing through Nhon Trach commune has been handed over to the investor. This section covers approximately 0.13 hectares with a route length of nearly 1 kilometre. For the sections passing through Long Thanh and An Phuoc communes, site clearance on the ground has largely been completed, enabling construction machinery to access the site and commence works.
However, difficulties remain in the section from the National Highway 51 interchange to the endpoint, which connects with the Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway in Long Thanh commune. A total of 63 cases have yet to hand over land, including six households subject to full clearance.
To ensure project progress, the SEPMU proposed that relevant authorities complete resettlement consideration for the six fully cleared households in January 2026 and finalise the handover of the entire project site in February 2026.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha stressed that the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh Expressway section is being implemented as an urgent construction project to serve traffic connectivity between Long Thanh International Airport and Ho Chi Minh City. He therefore requested that all relevant agencies and local authorities complete the handover of the entire project site, except for the land areas of the six fully cleared households, before the Lunar New Year 2026. At the same time, compensation and support payments for affected households must also be fully disbursed before Lunar New Year 2026.
He further instructed relevant agencies and local authorities to establish detailed critical path schedules for compensation and site clearance for each household to ensure timely implementation and adherence to the overall project timeline.
