Under the Resolution approved by the 11th Dong Nai Provincial People’s Council on the establishment of wards, Dong Phu Ward is to be formed based on the current administrative boundaries, retaining the entire natural area of 138.66 sq.km and a population of 39,213 from Dong Phu Commune.
Previously, on July 1, Dong Phu Commune was established through the merger of three former commune-level units—Tan Phu Township, Tan Tien Commune and Tan Lap Commune—of Dong Phu District in the former Binh Phuoc Province. Following the merger, the Dong Phu commune took over the former district’s administrative center along with a relatively well-developed urban infrastructure system.

Dong Phu Commune currently benefits from a well-connected transport network. That includes the long-established provincial Road DT741, spanning 13.5km through the area, links provinces in the Central Highlands with the gateway to Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, major infrastructure projects are underway or planned, including the nearly 42km Dong Phu–Binh Duong road project with a 65m roadbed, and the Gia Nghia–Chon Thanh expressway, which is about to commence investment and construction. The commune has also focused on developing key transportation projects that serve as important connectors, notably five arterial roads totaling nearly 25km, directly linking the provincial road DT741 to Dong Phu Industrial-Residential Zone and the planned expansion area of Nam Dong Phu Industrial Park.

Industry remains a core strength of Dong Phu. The commune is home to two industrial parks: Bac Dong Phu Industrial Park, covering 189ha and currently being expanded by an additional 317ha in the second phase, and Nam Dong Phu Industrial Park, spanning 69ha with a planned expansion of 480ha in the second phase. In addition, four industrial clusters are operating stably, including Ha My industrial cluster (10ha), Tan Tien 1 and 2 industrial clusters (105ha), and Tan Phu 1 industrial cluster (49ha).
