Vietnam has been named among best options to help you find a summer destination that's affordable and a great way to spend your vacation, according to a list released by Dawn, Pakistan's oldest and most widely read English-language newspaper.

The newspaper advises travelers to choose Vietnam, if they've been to Thailand multiple times and want to explore a different place with a similar experience.

A round trip ticket is US$567 and online visa will cost US$7 with an additional US$24 for the stamp once you arrive at the airport. Haider, a Pakistani visitor, who went on his honeymoon to Hanoi said that for three days he spent about US$48 per day while living in a nice hotel and eating out.

Haider said that Vietnam is super cheap and you can easily find three-star accommodations which are clean, comfortable and well-equipped for an estimated US$26 per night. These are places you can stay with friends or family.

“The food is dirt cheap, a bowl of Vietnamese pho is US$0.9 – 1.9, but if you're looking for conventional foods then it will be an issue; only recently they opened a McDonald's and then there's the option of dining at upscale eateries but you'll have to shell out a good amount,” Dawn wrote.

Thailand – the old favourite tops the list, followed by Turkey - new favourite, Sri Lanka – a different beach destination, Portugal - a European getaway, Vietnam - unexpected destination.

Vietnam expects to welcome some 18 million international visitors in 2019, compared to 15.5 million in 2018.
