Beautiful coast of Ba Ria-Vung Tau will host the first Sea Festival 2006 in April

Tourists visiting the south-ern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau will have the opportunity to participate in Sea Festival 2006, said Pham Quang Khai, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee at a press conference held on Thursday in Ha Noi.

 

The first Sea Festival 2006 to be held in in Ba Ria-Vung Tau next April aims to promote the province’s culture, history, revolutionary cause and the people’s heroic traditions, with special focus on the last 15 years of development. The five-day festival, beginning on April 11, at the city’s centre, will also introduce local snapshots through cultural folk festivals and activities.

 

In addition, activities surrounding this theme will be held concurrently in different provincial localities, namely Ba Ria township, Con Dao district and other well-known tourist destinations beginning February 15, 2006, before the official start of the festival.

 

Major pre-festival activities include a marble sculpture camp aiming to produce modern artistic works based on historical figures and events in the province, a sand statue contest at the Bien Dong tourist complex in Vung Tau City, a fair and exhibition at the Paradise Tourist area with 800 booths and a Miss Sea Festival beauty contest.

 

The official programme includes a variety art performance during the inaugural ceremony, the final round of Miss Sea Festival, a seminar entitled Ba Ria-Vung Tau: a destination for tourists and investors as well as music and fashion shows.

 

"We truly wish to present the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Sea Festival 2006 as an opportunity for local and foreign investors and businesses to study and explore economic development co-operation in the province," said Khai at the press conference.
