Supporting policy beneficiary families, poor households in building secure homes

Since the beginning of 2026, particularly following the issuance of Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU dated May 1, 2026, issued by the municipal Party Committee on the special 500-day-and-night campaign themed “Solidarity – Discipline – Efficiency – Breakthrough, Building a Civilized and Modern Dong Nai,” the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and its member organizations have made efforts to mobilize social resources to build and repair homes for people in need.
At the same time, relevant agencies have reviewed cases involving policy beneficiary families and revolutionary contributors in order to implement the “Paying debt of gratitude” task through the construction of houses of gratitude.

As a result, many families are welcoming the 2026 National Day holiday (September 2) in newly built, sturdy homes.

Celebrating National Day in sturdy homes

Implementing the 2026 coordination and joint action program of the VFF Committee of Dong Nai City, while promoting the VFF’s role in mobilizing and pooling social resources to care for poor and disadvantaged people, the Standing Board of the VFF Committee of Dong Nai City – Standing Board of the Mobilization Board for City Fund for the Poor has worked with local authorities, agencies and member organizations to develop the Fund for the Poor and carry out social welfare programs. Among these efforts is the construction and repair of homes for families facing housing difficulties.

As a result, more than 200 households across the city are able to celebrate this year’s National Day in sturdy homes. Meanwhile, construction has begun on new homes for many other families during this period. Among them is the family of Vo Thi Len in Dai Phuoc Commune.

Len said her family was preparing to move into their new home. Initially, they received VND110 million in construction assistance, along with several household appliances. During construction, local authorities and the hamlet administration mobilized additional resources to support the family. On the day they moved into their new home, the hamlet administration also raised funds to give the family gifts.

Similarly, in September 2026, the family of Dieu Co in Bu Gia Map Commune will celebrate National Day for the first time in a sturdy home built with funding from non-governmental sources mobilized by the city’s Union of Friendship Organizations. According to Dieu Co, the support has eased hisfamily’s financial burden, allowing them to focus on their children’s education and improving their livelihoods instead of saving money to build a house.

Not only poor and near-poor households and families facing housing difficulties, but also many policy families in need of housing assistance have been helped to build sturdy homes. Among them is the family of Nguyen Thi Dung in Nhon Trach Ward. Her house was built with VND140 million in funding donated by the Nhon Trach Low-Pressure Gas Distribution Enterprise, a branch of PetroVietnam Low-Pressure Gas Distribution JSC, through the coordination of the ward’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

According to Ho Thi Kim Ngan, Chairwoman of the VFF Committee of Nhon Trach Ward, since May 2026, six sturdy homes have been built with resources mobilized and coordinated by the locality. The initiative demonstrates the ward’s care and support for policy families and households facing housing difficulties. Each completed home represents a concrete action by the ward’s VFF system in response to the special 500-day-and-night campaign.

Since the beginning of 2026, the Funds for the Poor at all levels across the city have raised more than VND12.4 billion. The Vietnam Fatherland Front committees at all levels, in coordination with member organizations, have supported the construction of 113 “great solidarity” houses and the repair of 82 others.

In addition, VFF committees at all levels and socio-political organizations have mobilized their members and local residents to participate in charitable and humanitarian activities, providing direct assistance to poor and disadvantaged people in their communities outside the Fund for the Poor. The total amount raised has reached nearly VND330 billion, which has been used to provide gifts, health insurance cards, scholarships, and support for home construction and repairs, among other forms of assistance.

Mobilizing all available resources

Efforts to mobilize resources and identify households in need of housing assistance are continuing across the city in conjunction with the implementation of Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU.

According to Nguyen Tan Phu, Vice Chairman of the VFF Committee of Dong Nai City, a large number of sturdy homes are completed and handed over each year to poor and near-poor households, families facing housing difficulties, and policy families across the city. However, many families still lack the means to build homes on their own for various reasons and require the involvement of Party committees, local authorities, the VFF and mass organizations.

To ensure that no one in need of support is overlooked, Phu said the Standing Board of the city’s VFF Committee has conducted inspections and on-site assessments of poor and near-poor households seeking assistance to build or repair their homes in communes and wards across the city. It has also inspected and provided guidance on compliance with regulations governing the Fund for the Poor. These efforts aim to ensure transparency, accountability and that housing assistance from the Fund for the Poor reaches the rightbeneficiaries.

At the same time, the VFF, its member organizations and local authorities have proactively sought social funding and mobilized organizations, businesses, individuals and foreign non-governmental organizations to support the construction and repair of homes for disadvantaged families.

Nguyen Thanh Tri, Chairman of the city’s Union of Friendship Organizations, said that in response to the special 500-day-and-night campaign and with approval from the municipal People’s Committee, the Union of Friendship Organizations, together with relevant agencies, had mobilized and received funding to build 100 sturdy homes from Latter-day Saint Charities.The 100 homes have been allocated to communes and wards, with priority given to border areas and localities with a large concentration of ethnic minority people. Following the simultaneous groundbreaking ceremonies on August 28, 2026, the homes are expected to be completed and handed over to residents for occupancy in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Notably, during the construction of these sturdy homes, the city has combined initial financial support with a “three-on-site” model involving the family, extended family and community. As a result, the value of each completed home is typically higher than the initial amount of assistance provided. This helps ensure that the homes handed over meet each family’s basic living needs.
