Phuoc Long Ward advances development through key infrastructure projects

Phuoc Long Ward has identified six priority initiatives in response to the city's special 500-day-and-night emulation campaign, themed "Solidarity – Discipline – Efficiency – Breakthrough, Building a Civilized and Modern Dong Nai," launched by the Dong Nai City Party Committee’s Executive Board.

Construction of nine classrooms at Thac Mo Secondary School (Phuoc Long Ward) is being accelerated.

Among them, three major projects are expected to improve educational facilities, preserve local historical and cultural heritage, and create new momentum for socio-economic development and the building of a modern urban area.

Investing in educational facilities

Phuoc Long Ward is home to 14 schools, including 10 of its 12 public schools that have achieved national-standard status. To meet demand for the 2026-2027 academic year, the ward has surveyed and assessed the condition of school facilities before launching renovation and reconstruction projects for deteriorating schools.

The largest investment is the reconstruction of Thac Mo Secondary School, which includes nine new classrooms, three administrative offices and supporting facilities to replace buildings that have been in use for years. The project, funded with VND15.5 billion from the state budget, has a construction period of 12 months and is scheduled for completion in May 2027.

Construction began in early June 2026. Foundation work has been completed, while contractors are currently erecting reinforced concrete columns and masonry walls. About 25 percent of the project has been completed.

According to Bui Duy Cu, construction site manager of the Thac Mo Secondary School project, personnel and construction materials have been fully mobilized. The contractor has adjusted its construction schedule to take advantage of favorable weather, increasing work shifts on sunny days to accelerate progress and complete the project ahead of schedule, contributing to providing a safer and more stable learning environment.

Vu Duy Ha, Principal of Thac Mo Secondary School, said the school's administrative block and nine semicircular classrooms, built in the 1960s, had seriously deteriorated and posed safety risks. "The decision to rebuild the entire classroom block and supporting facilities has brought great reassurance and excitement to teachers, students and parents," he said.

Expanding regional connectivity

Among the infrastructure projects under development in Phuoc Long, the Thac Mo Bridge is widely regarded by local Party Committee, authorities and residents as a strategic transport project capable of driving development across the region. The Dong Nai City People's Committee has approved the project's investment policy. The bridge will directly connect Phuoc Long Ward with Phu Trung Commune, stretching approximately one kilometer with four traffic lanes. The project has an estimated investment of VND939 billion from the state budget and is managed by the Dong Nai City Construction Investment Project Management Board.

According to Nguyen Khac Hanh, Deputy Secretary of the Phuoc Long Ward Party Committee and Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, local authorities have coordinated with the city's project management board and the Department of Construction to conduct surveys, finalize the route alignment, prepare design plans and hire consulting units to carry out investment preparations. The Ward People's Committee has also surveyed affected households and land areas to prepare for compensation and site clearance. Once detailed data on affected households and land areas are finalized, local authorities will proceed with compensation, support, and land acquisition to facilitate early implementation of the project.

"Once completed, Thac Mo Bridge will shorten travel times from National Highway 13 and the Hoa Lu International Border Gate to National Highway 14 and the Central Highlands," Hanh said. "It will also provide a direct connection to the Gia Nghia–Chon Thanh Expressway, becoming a vital link in a seamless transport network connecting the border region with Ho Chi Minh City, seaports and logistics centers. This will create favorable conditions for trade, services and investment," Hanh anticipated.

Phuoc Long is also implementing several other major projects, including the Ba Ra Mountain Eco-tourism and Service Urban Area, covering approximately 1,200 hectares, the expansion of Bang Lang Hill, and numerous road infrastructure projects. "With strong political determination and broad public support, we are striving to build Phuoc Long into a civilized and modern urban area worthy of becoming Dong Nai City's Northern commercial and tourism hub.

Digitizing heritage to unlock tourism potential

Alongside investments in transport infrastructure and education, Phuoc Long has selected digital transformation in the cultural sector as another flagship project under this special emulation campaign. The ward plans to digitize historical sites and develop a 3D Museum of the Route 14–Phuoc Long Campaign, helping preserve cultural heritage, educate tradition and promote local tourism.

During the 2026–2030 period, the ward will digitize five historical sites, including the national scenic site of Ba Ra Mountain – Thac Mo; the provincial historical and cultural site of General Nguyen Thi Dinh Memorial Garden; the provincial architectural and artistic site of Ba Ra Temple; Dak Lung Bridge – a site marking the atrocities committed by the U.S. imperialists and the Saigon puppet regime; and the Phuoc Long Victory Site. The 3D Museum of the Route 14–Phuoc Long Campaign has been designated as the first priority.

According to Lai Tat Thang, Head of the Ward's Culture and Social Affairs Division, the museum is envisioned as a modern, smart and highly interactive facility. "It will help promote the ward's historical and cultural values while supporting the development of local tourism," he said.

The ward's General Services Center has been assigned to implement the project and is urgently completing procedures to select a design consultant so that construction can proceed on schedule.
