More than 69,400 first-graders across Dong Nai City started school on August 24, becoming the first students to return to school and familiarize themselves with their new learning environment ahead of the 2026-2027 academic year's opening ceremony.

In the 2026-2027 academic year, the city is expected to welcome more than 1 million students from preschool to high school, as well as those enrolled in continuing education programs. Infrastructure preparations were stepped up immediately after the 2025-2026 academic year ended to ensure schools are ready to welcome students. The city is investing in more than 90 school construction projects, with around 350 new classrooms expected to be completed and put into use during the new academic year.

The Dong Nai City People's Committee has allocated more than VND972 billion to repair and renovate school facilities and classrooms, and more than VND165 billion to purchase computers, desks, chairs, and other learning equipment. In particular, the city is expediting an investment package worth more than VND30 billion to build prefabricated buildings and dining halls to support the provision of school meals for students.

Under Decision No. 2322/QD-UBND of the Dong Nai City People's Committee, following today's (August 24) back-to-school session, students in the remaining grades of primary, lower-secondary, and upper-secondary levels, as well as continuing education programs, will return to school on August 27. Schools across the city will simultaneously hold opening ceremonies for the new academic year on September 5.
The first semester will run until early January 2027, ensuring the required 18 weeks of actual instruction in accordance with regulations and promising a new academic year with many successes for Dong Nai's education and training sector.
