According to Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang, during the 2019–2025 period, the international context evolved rapidly and in complex ways, posing major challenges to international relations and significantly affecting the operations of foreign NGOs in Vietnam and Dong Nai in particular. However, thanks to the close guidance from central authorities, support from the VUFO, and the close cooperation of international organisations, FDI enterprises and the wider community, Dong Nai was still able to synchronously implement many practical programmes and projects funded by foreign NGO aid.
These activities have contributed to improving people’s livelihoods, promoting sustainable development and strengthening friendship between the people of Dong Nai and international partners. During the period, Dong Nai cooperated with 202 foreign NGOs and donors, implementing 215 programmes and projects with total pledged funding of nearly USD 19.2 million, of which more than USD 10.6 million has been disbursed. At the same time, the former Binh Phuoc province – now merged with Dong Nai – also recorded notable results, with 62 foreign NGOs implementing projects worth over USD 7 million in total aid.

These resources were channelled into projects in essential fields such as healthcare, education, social welfare, gender equality, support for vulnerable groups, and improvement of the living environment. The results clearly demonstrate the province’s efforts to expand international cooperation and mobilise social resources to support development.

Looking ahead, Dong Nai will continue to expand cooperation with foreign NGOs, foreign associations and FDI enterprises. The province will proactively develop project portfolios closely aligned with its practical needs, focusing on digital transformation, green development, social security, human resource quality improvement, healthcare, education, environmental protection, and addressing the consequences of unexploded ordnance and Agent Orange. Dong Nai hopes to receive the continued attention, support and partnership of foreign NGOs, foreign associations and FDI enterprises.
