Over the past five years, Dong Nai has focused on effectively implementing programs in communication and public awareness, as well as the dissemination and education of laws related to social protection and child protection, and social assistance and child welfare activities.

As a result, the province currently has nearly 142,000 beneficiaries of regular social assistance and social pensions. These include children under 16 without caregivers, people living with HIV from poor households, poor single parents raising children, social pension beneficiaries, people with severe and especially severe disabilities, and those receiving care and support in the community, among others.

Dong Nai will effectively implement policies on elderly care and promote the role of older persons in accordance with regulations. The province will also carry out support policies for persons with disabilities receiving community-based care, and coordinate with relevant departments, sectors, and Communal-level People’s Committees to guide non-public social protection facilities in improving admission procedures, management, and care services.

Inter-agency coordination will be strengthened in the prevention, intervention, and support of children, along with guidance on replicating effective models of child protection and care. The province will step up efforts to prevent and combat violence, abuse, and injuries involving children. At the same time, it will continue to call for investment in developing a diverse and high-quality network of non-public social protection facilities and nursing homes, helping to ease pressure on the state budget and meet the growing healthcare needs of older persons and vulnerable groups amid population ageing.
