On September 24, the humanitarian television program "Aspiration to live" brought together generous hearts to share compassion and help sustain the life of Nguyen Thi Dung's family, with a total donation amounting to over VND 102 million.

The heartfelt event took place at Dung's home in Group 7, Soc Trao A hamlet, Tan Quan commune, Dong Nai province. It was jointly organized by Dong Nai Newspaper, Radio and Television, the Dong Nai Association for the Support of People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients, and Nhat Advertising Joint Stock Company (Ho Chi Minh City). The program’s main sponsor was Tan Phuoc Khanh Steel Co., Ltd. (TPK).

Nguyen Thi Dung's family has faced hardship for over 30 years since relocating from her hometown in former Ha Tay province to Tan Quan commune, where she worked as a hired laborer to survive. Tragedy struck early when her husband died, leaving her alone to raise three sons amidst debt and severe poverty.

Her pain deepened when her eldest son, Nguyen Tat Hung, returned home after a failed marriage, bringing with him his twin daughters. One of them, Quynh Nhu, underwent surgery for a congenital heart condition and is now battling a dangerous tumor in her femur. In 2020, Hung was diagnosed with severe diabetes and has since lost all ability to work. At the edge of the village, their precarious home has become a place of daily struggle, where Dung is slowly wearing down under the weight of illness and hardship, trying to keep her family alive.

“Right now, a single act of compassion is not just emotional support, as it could be a chance at survival for Hung and Quynh Nhu. It is also a lifeline that can give Dung the strength to keep carrying her family through the hardships of illness,” said Nguyen Duc Tien, Head of the Organizing Committee of the humanitarian television program Aspiration to live

The heartfelt appeal quickly touched the hearts of many compassionate donors. Within days, generous contributions, including cash and essential supplies, were delivered directly to Dung’s family.

With a total of VND 102 million raised, the organizing committee allocated the support as follows: 40 million VND for home repairs, 25 million VND to purchase a reproductive cow, 2 million VND for medical check-ups for Hung and Quynh Nhu, 5.5 million VND for daily living expenses, and 30 million VND placed into a savings account in Dung’s name, co-managed by Tan Quan Commune People's Committee.

Overcome with emotion, Dung choked up as she shared her gratitude: “I am truly grateful to the generous donors, the local authorities, and the 'Aspiration to live' program for extending their support. Thanks to this help, my son and granddaughter now have a chance to receive treatment, to keep living and continue going to school.”
