Over 1,000ha of land revoked for construction of Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway section traversing Dong Nai

According to the Dong Nai Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board, in a bid to build the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway section traversing Dong Nai, the province will revoke, compensate, and clear over 1,000ha of land, with more than 2,100 households and organizations to be affected.

According to preliminary statistics, over 1,000 households in the project area are eligible for resettlement. To provide resettlement for these households, Dong Nai province will build 6 resettlement areas in the communes of Bu Dang (1 location), Dong Tam (2 locations), Tan Loi (1 location), and the wards of Binh Phuoc (1 location), Chon Thanh (1 location). The total area of the resettlement zones serving the project is over 26ha, with an estimated over 990 resettlement plots.

The Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh Expressway Project has a total length of approximately 124km, passing through both provinces of Lam Dong and Dong Nai. Of this, the section passing through Dong Nai is over 101km long.

The project is divided into 5 component projects, including Component Project 1 featuring the construction of the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh Expressway (invested under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model); Component Project 3 with the construction of service roads and overpasses across the expressway within Dong Nai province; Component Project 5 covering compensation, support, and resettlement in Dong Nai province will be implemented by Dong Nai province. Component Project 5 will be carried out on land acquisition, compensation, support, and resettlement to implement Component Projects 1 and 3.

According to the decision on approving project adjustments, Component Project 5 has a total investment of nearly 4,000 billion VND. Its implementation started from 2024, and it is expected for basic completion in 2026 and operation in 2027.

As of early August 2025, the provincial authorities issued land acquisition notices for over 2,100 land plots out of approximately 3,700 plots in the project implementation area. After issuing the land acquisition notices, the authorities have inventoried houses, structures, and crops on the affected land.
